Wuesthoff for Women Breast Health Initiative
Wuesthoff Health System Foundation is proud to dedicate this year’s 25th annual
golf tournament to our Wuesthoff for Women Breast Health Initiative.
For years, Wuesthoff Foundation has emphasized the importance of early detection of
breast cancer and the need to have the latest in diagnostic technology available
close to home. In 2005, Wuesthoff brought the first digital mammography to Brevard
County and in 2007, installed the first breast MRI with biopsy capability.
Beginning in 2007, Wuesthoff has been promoting its "One in Eight" campaign
which encourages women to seek annual mammograms so that any cancer may be found
early and the highest survival rate assured.
Breast MRI partners well with digital mammography for women who
meet criteria that were announced this year by the American Cancer Society.
Breast MRI is not for everyone, but it is a critically important test for a
segment of women who have had breast cancer or are at high risk.
We may not be able to cure breast cancer here in Brevard County, but we
can find and treat cancer as small as the period at the end of this sentence.
Let’s make 2008 the year of healing and hope!
